Fire Destroys Jackson County Home

No one was injured Friday morning in a fire that destroyed a home in Jackson County. The fire broke out at about 1 a.m. at a home on Birch Lick Road. Owner Josh Smith told LEX 18 he and his girlfriend lived in the home with two children. The couple was on vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee when they got a call saying the house was on fire. The words erupted like wildfire, spreading from soldier to soldier and barrack to barrack as Troop K soldiers in the 3rd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Tennessee Army National Guard shared the news.  “We’re going home!”
