A Gatlinburg Vacation

Gatlinburg, Tennessee is known as the Gateway to the Smoky Mountain Range and a Gatlinburg vacation is a great way to spend a few days or a week. It is also the heart of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Gatlinburg is ultimately a one stop vacation shop with so many attractions and activities that you may find yourself running out of time on just one vacation, and find yourself coming back to vacation in Gatlinburg again. Once you know how much time you have to spend on your Gatlinburg vacation, you can determine what you want to explore and accomplish while you are there.

Fascinating and spectacular, Gatlinburg is a year-round vacation location. Whatever the season, you will have a never-ending choice of parades, festivals, annual events, or indoor and outdoor activities to pique anyone's fancy.

The choices for a Gatlinburg vacation are too numerous to list; however, there are many types of attractions and activities that can be brought to light. For starters, you will want to figure out where to stay in Gatlinburg. There are at least 400 places to choose from ranging from cabins, hotels, inns, and luxurious condominiums, to name a few.

Once settled in, decide, if you have not already, what it is you want to do and see. A few options include: ride the country's biggest tram to the summit of Ober Gatlinburg, visit over 400 stores and galleries, or meander around 8 miles of the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community, which happens to be host to the largest grouping of artists in the country. Or, you may want to take in Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies.

To add to your list of things to see and do on your Gatlinburg vacation, look into Wild Bear Falls Water Park, a park with a retractable roof and 60,000 square feet of wet and wild fun. Another place is Wonder Works, an upside down attraction for the brain. Next suggestion is the Black Bear Jamboree, where seven brothers and their sister have a unique kind of 21st century family entertainment. Then there are the dinner shows to attend. A family favorite is Dixie Stampede with amazing horsemanship, special effects, and stunts over a four-course meal. Over all else, the most-visited attraction is The Great Smoky Mountains National Park founded in 1934. This national park is a natural wonder covering over 800 square miles of North Carolina and Tennessee and running through the Appalachian Mountains. Here you can camp, bike, fish, hike, or do whatever suits your outdoor fancy.

The options for a Gatlinburg vacation are endless. Get a place to stay, visit the National Park, go to Pigeon Forge, eat at the numerous dinning facilities, do some shopping, take in a few of the attractions and activities or just plain kick back and take in the breath-taking beauty of the area. And you'll no doubt already be planning your next vacation back to Gatlinburg before your first one is even over!
